WASHINGTON (WASHINGTON POST) - Singer Chris Brown has been released from jail on US$250,000 (S$340,657) bail following his arrest on Tuesday (Aug 30) on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, according to booking records.

Los Angeles police spokesman Tony Im said a woman called 911 on Tuesday morning from outside Brown's Southern California residence, saying she needed help; after an hours-long stand-off with police, Brown was arrested without incident. He was released shortly after 11pm.

Hours later, Brown's attorney Mark Geragos wrote on Twitter that the singer was out of jail and that "the allegations against him are demonstrably false". "We are cooperating," Mr Geragos said on HLN television about the investigation. "There is no truth to it and we're going to let it play out."
