At the Golden Globes last week, the hunk walked his nine-year-old son - star of acclaimed drama flick Room - down the red carpet and became the Internet's new crush in the process.

Social media was abuzz over his rugged good looks, with many googly-eyed netizens wondering if he might be a single dad.

The Sunday Times takes a closer look at him and other unexpected red-carpet stars.

Jacob Tremblay's father

With fewer than five seconds of airtime on the Golden Globes' live telecast, he still became one of the top trending topics on Twitter all night long.

A social media user going by the name of @debsterbread had been enjoying the Golden Globes show on television until she demanded in a tweet: "But like... pan back to Jacob Tremblay's hot dad".

Although it is unclear what Mr Tremblay's first name is, the Canadian is confirmed to be a detective with the Vancouver Police Department. That is right - he is a man in uniform, which only ups his hotness rating multifold.

Social media users were slightly disappointed to discover that he is happily married to a gorgeous housewife. Besides their talented middle child Jacob, the couple have two daughters, Emma and Erica, who also act.

Julianna Margulies' husband

Who is that living Ken Doll whom actress Julianna Margulies, 49, has been taking to all the red-carpet events all these years? Turns out the pretty boy is her lawyer husband Keith Lieberthal (above right), 43, who is also the father of their eight-year-old son Kieran.

Every time The Good Wife star shows up at public events with him, netizens will gush about his blue eyes, chiselled features and impeccable fashion sense.

He may not work in show business, but he has been featured on many red carpet best-dressed and best-looking lists. It is not difficult to see why.

Michael Keaton's son

At last year's Golden Globes, all the rage online was about Michael Keaton's son, Sean Douglas.

When Keaton senior, who won a Best Actor award for Birdman, dedicated his acceptance speech to his son, the cameras panned to Sean Douglas for his reaction - much to the delight of audiences.

Even actress Mindy Kaling was enamoured with the 32-year-old's clean-cut good looks.

She tweeted: "Oh hello Michael Keaton's son."

Sean Douglas is a songwriter and producer who has written hit tunes such as Demi Lovato's Heart Attack and Jason Derulo's Wiggle. He is married to 33-year-old Rachel Bartov, who works at a Hollywood talent agency.

Sylvester Stallone's daughters

It is probably a good thing that Sylvester Stallone's daughters all take after their ex-model mother Jennifer Flavin, 47.

With their glamorous get-ups and lustrous flowing locks, the 69-year-old actor's teen girls - Sophia, 19; Sistine, 17; and Scarlet, 13 - always steal the show when they accompany him to red-carpet events.

Sistine has already said in an interview that she hopes to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a model. The other two have yet to reveal their career plans, but with such famous parents and pretty faces, they could well go the show business route.

Denzel Washington's son

Another family member who threatened to upstage the movie star at this year's Golden Globes was the eldest child of Denzel Washington, John David.

When Washington took his family on stage with him to accept the honorary Cecil B. DeMille award, social media users were distracted by his handsome 31-year-old son standing to the side in a smart tuxedo. Twitter user @bksquared wrote, "Yoooooooo lemme get Denzel's son's number", while user @talktoraven commented: "Congrats Denzel but can the camera zoom in on his son?"

John David is a former American footballer who recently switched to acting, playing a competitive football player in the HBO television series Ballers alongside Dwayne Johnson.

Jared Leto's mother

When Jared Leto won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Dallas Buyers Club last year, his mother Constance caught everyone's attention.

Netizens admired both the elegance of the 64-year-old silver-haired beauty, as well as her evidently tight bond with her son, who had dedicated his acceptance speech to her. The 44-year-old said: "She was a high school dropout and a single mum, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children.

"She encouraged her kids to be creative, to work hard and to do something special... And I just want to say, I love you, Mom. Thank you for teaching me to dream."
