Van Ness Wu's father sentenced to jail

Taiwan star Van Ness Wu's father has been sentenced to 37 months in jail by a Los Angeles district court over bribery and conspiracy charges, reported Apple Daily.

George Wu, 63, who operated an immigration consulting service, solicited money from immigrants hoping for United States permanent residence and citizenship, according to the United States Immigration And Customs Enforcement website. Some of the money was used to pay bribes to public officials in exchange for granting immigration benefits.

Van Ness' parents divorced when he was a child. The actor could not respond to the news as he was busy filming, said his agent.
