Sukiyaki lyric writer dies

Rokusuke Ei, who wrote the lyrics to the 1961 global hit Sukiyaki, died last Thursday at his home, aged 83, reported the BBC. The Japanese wrote the lyrics of Ue O Muite Aruko (I Look Up At The Sky As I Walk), which became popularly known as Sukiyaki. The beloved song was sung by Kyu Sakamoto (1941-1985) and composed by Hachidai Nakamura (1931-1992).


Chaka Khan in rehabilitation

Funk legend Chaka Khan said she was seeking treatment for addiction to prescription painkillers, which cost the life of her friend and musical partner Prince, a statement said on Sunday. Khan, 63, is known for her cover of Prince's I Feel For You.

Her sister and fellow artist Yvonne Stevens, aka Taka Boom, said she went into rehabilitation with Khan.

"Due to all our comrades who have lost their battle with prescription drugs," she wrote on Facebook, "we've decided this shall not be our fate."
