Buzzing: Smithsonian ventures out of the US

Smithsonian ventures out of the US

For the first time in its 170-year history, the Smithsonian Institution will establish a permanent presence outside the United States.

The Washington-based Smithsonian and London's Victoria and Albert Museum said they would collaborate on a new exhibition space in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London, the site of the 2012 Games.

A new branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum will share space with the Smithsonian outpost - alongside a cluster of other institutions, including Sadler's Wells Theater, University College London and London College of Fashion - in a major cultural complex called Olympicopolis, to open in 2021.

New season of Curb Your Enthusiasm

After an extended hiatus, HBO's hit comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming back, the channel announced. The last and eighth season of the show, created by its star Larry David, was broadcast in 2011.

David has, for years, said he was unsure if there would be a ninth season. In a statement, he said: "In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, 'I left, I did nothing, I returned.'"
