Prince's home to open in October

Prince's Minneapolis home, Paisley Park, will open to the public for guided tours from Oct 6, according to reports quoting a statement from the administrator of the music icon's estate.

Turning the 65,000 sq ft estate, where he died in April, into a museum was what he had envisioned, said his sister Tyka Nelson in the statement on Wednesday.

Paisley Park was the singer's creative space and fans will be able to view his recording and mixing studios, the soundstage where he rehearsed and his personal items, such as his wardrobe and awards. Tickets go on sale today on officialpaisleypark.com. No ticket price is indicated on the site.

MTV launches contest for best hit cover

MTV has invited fans to cover hit songs, with the winner set to earn fame by starring in an original video. The network announced the contest ahead of Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards in New York and geared the initiative towards viewers in its more than 120 markets outside the United States.

MTV announces a song each month. Viewers will need to upload cover versions on YouTube and submit them online to be the "MTV Cover of the Month". MTV International will recognise each month's winner through a recurring spot on television plus a trophy. It will pick a winner of the year, who will star in an original music video.

The first song in the contest, to start after Sunday's awards gala, is Mike Posner's global hit, I Took A Pill In Ibiza.
