Laneway returns in January

Indie music festival Laneway will be back for its seventh outing in Singapore at The Meadow, Gardens by the Bay on Jan 21.The acts, performing on four stages, will be announced at a later date. Laneway is one of the top draws in the annual concert calendar here. Attendance at the event has grown from 6,000 in its first outing in 2011 to 13,000 in January this year.


Lochte to join Dancing With The Stars

Disgraced Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte is joining television's Dancing With The Stars cast, ABC television announced on Tuesday. He will join celebrities such as Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez, former Texas governor Rick Perry and rapper Vanilla Ice in the season starting on Sept 12.


Disney unveils new Star Wars movie toys

Walt Disney Co is unveiling toys tied to its Dec 16 release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with an assortment of fan-made videos featuring the new playthings. The clips are on the Star Wars YouTube channel. The toys, from makers such as Hasbro and Mattel go on sale on Sept 30. They include the US$50 (S$68) Death Star Micro Machines playset from Hasbro and the US$30 Imperial Hovercraft from Lego A/S.


Bundchen still highest-paid model

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, 35, remained the highest-paid female model in the world with an annual income of US$30.5 million (S$41.6 million), while Kardashian clan member Kendall Jenner, 20, more than doubled her earnings, according to Forbes' 2016 list on Tuesday. Jenner tied for third position, up from 16th last year. She earned US$10 million, the same as what Karlie Kloss, 24, earned. Coming in second with US$10.5 million was Brazilian Adriana Lima, 35.
