Depp sues his lawyer for malpractice

Actor Johnny Depp added his long-time entertainment lawyer to the list of people he says are to blame for his vanished fortune and wants US$30 million (S$41 million) in contingency fees paid over the past 18 years returned.

On Tuesday, he sued Mr Jacob Bloom for malpractice, among other claims. He says the lawyer was in cahoots with his former business managers at the Management Group, whom Depp is already suing for allegedly mismanaging hundreds of millions of dollars he made. Specifically, Mr Bloom is said to have helped arrange a predatory, "hard money" loan that has been sucking up Depp's residuals from six movies.
