CHINA'S BOX OFFICE EXCEEDS $88M

China's total box-office sales surpassed 400 million yuan (S$88 million) on Saturday, a record for a single day, revealed data from the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.

The biggest contributor was local fantasy-comedy Monster Hunt, which brought in 180 million yuan. Animated 3-D hit Monkey King: Hero Is Back contributed 62 million yuan and has become China's highest-grossing local animated film with 306 million yuan earned so far, says Film Business Asia.

FANTASIA GETS MARRIED

American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino, 31, announced on Instagram that she has wed her fiance Kendall Taylor.

She posted a picture of herself and her courier company executive husband on the deck of a yacht where the wedding was held over the weekend.
