Boss Baby bests Beauty

Never underestimate a tough-talking tot.

The Boss Baby, in the tradition of Look Who's Talking (1989), proved popular and pushed past Beauty And The Beast to be the No. 1 movie in North America, with roughly US$49 million (S$68.4 million). The animated comedy, which cost at least US$200 million to make and market, has taken in US$59 million more overseas. Alec Baldwin gave voice to the baby.

Beauty had US$47.5 million in sales. Fizzling in third place was Ghost In The Shell, with about US$19 million.


Two Country Music Awards for Miranda Lambert

Miranda Lambert's reflections on her divorce from her fellow country superstar Blake Shelton brought her glory on Sunday at the Academy of Country Music Awards. She won Album of the Year for The Weight Of These Wings and Female Vocalist of the Year.

Entertainer of the Year, the highest-profile award of the night, went to Jason Aldean. Thomas Rhett won Male Vocalist of the Year.
