NEW YORK • A defiant Mallika Sherawat took to Instagram last Friday after being gassed and attacked by three masked men last week in Paris.

"It takes more than three masked men to take me down, I am a strong woman," she wrote, attaching a photo of herself with a CNN journalist who interviewed her about the assault.

The Bollywood star was with her French businessman boyfriend Cyrille Auxenfans when they were attacked in the lobby of the apartment building they were staying at in Paris' chic 16th arrondissement on Nov 11.

Police said she was punched in the face and sprayed with tear gas by the attackers.

According to CNN, they pushed her to the ground and started hitting Auxenfans.

But the two fought off the attackers, who tried to steal her handbag, Sherawat told CNN, describing herself as "a strong woman". The attackers later fled empty-handed.

Sherawat, 40, said she suffered a few bruises and marks. "No one should be made to suffer the insecurity of having their home broken into or the physical and mental abuse of such an attack," she said.

The attack happened a short distance from the mansion where American reality TV star Kim Kardashian was attacked and robbed at gunpoint in the French capital.
