Residents in the east will have another place to catch movies when Golden Village opens its newest cineplex in Bedok in 2018.

It will be located at the redeveloped Princess Theatre building, and will have six screens and 600 seats.

Golden Village's chief executive, Ms Clara Cheo, says: "Over the years, residents of Bedok have been requesting for a cinema. Apart from a wide variety of exciting, not-to-be missed blockbusters and compelling alternative content, residents in Bedok can look forward to an unparalleled level of comfort, convenience and value at our new cinema."

The new cineplex is the latest to join the slew of theatres already in the east, such as Filmgarde at Kallang Leisure Park and Golden Village at I12 Katong.

Also in the works is a Cathay cineplex at Parkway Parade mall in Marine Parade.
