Audience could not hear Chou clearly

I refer to Boon Chan's article, Fans Upset By Poor Sound At Jay Chou Concert (Life, Sept 5).

It was my first time catching a Jay Chou concert at the Sports Hub and I was full of anticipation. The stage and lighting effects were perfect, but the acoustics were less than satisfactory.

Most of the time, we could not catch what he was singing or saying.

It was worse when he was interacting with the crowd. Those who managed to hear what he said started screaming. Those who did not sat there feeling like they missed out on a part of the excitement.

The only time I managed to hear the lyrics clearly was when the audience sang along.

I wonder if this is because the sound system is unsuitable for such a huge venue. I have attended Chou's previous concerts at the Indoor Stadium and the acoustics were great.
