The songs of Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara read like diary entries, chronicling the struggles of a 22-year-old in the spotlight.

"There's truth in every word I write, but still the growing pains, growing pains, they're keeping me up at night," she sings on the aptly titled Growing Pains, the first single in her upcoming album, The Pains Of Growing, which she expects to release in October.
