Scarlett Johansson has officially filed for divorce after first announcing her split from husband Romain Dauriac last summer.

Johansson, 32, asked for privacy in a statement.

"As a devoted mother and private person and with complete awareness that my daughter will one day be old enough to read the news about herself, I would only like to say that I will never, ever be commenting on the dissolution of my marriage," the statement read.

"Out of respect for my desires as a parent and out of respect for all working moms, it is with kindness that I ask other parties involved and the media to do the same."

Johansson and Dauriac, 34, married in 2014 after the birth of their daughter, Rose.

This is Johansson's second marriage. She was married to Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011.

Johansson has been locked in a custody battle with Dauriac, a French journalist, for their three-year-old daughter, USA Today reported.

The couple had a prenuptial agreement in place when they wed but did not make provisions for how they would handle the issue of children in a divorce, the report said quoting Dauriac's lawyer.
