Actress Michelle Yeoh invites people to join panda naming campaign

UNDP Goodwill Ambassador and award-winning actress, Michelle Yeoh, calls for more people to join the global naming campaign of two pandas, which are UNDP's first-ever Animal Ambassadors.

CHENGDU, CHINA (REUTERS) - Award-winning star Michelle Yeoh visited a panda base on Saturday (May 28) in China's south-western city of Chengdu, after being named as a goodwill ambassador by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) earlier this year in March.

Yeoh spent time with a pair of panda cub twins - UNDP's first-ever official Animal Ambassadors, as they symbolise the world's diminishing wildlife and the issue of the loss of biodiversity is one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UN adopted an ambitious new set of 17 SDGs to end poverty, hunger, advance equality and protect the environment as a roadmap to tackle the world's most troubling problems.
