SINGAPORE - Local actor Tay Ping Hui accidentally sliced off the tip of his finger while filming a cooking show.

Tay, 46, who shared a graphic image of the injured appendage on his Instagram account on Tuesday (Nov 29), said he had been "distracted for a split second".

"I felt the blade cut through my nail, and slicing the entire piece of flesh off, leaving it on the chopping board, flooded with blood," he wrote.

But he still managed to crack a joke about the accident, adding: "At the moment, all I could think of, was how would it taste in the rendang sauce that I was making..."

The popular Channel 8 male lead told The Straits Times in a September interview that he was attempting to diversifying his acting projects.

His last Channel 8 starring role was last year's music drama Crescendo.

He was in this year's Channel 5 drama The Hush and Channel U travelogue 3 Men 1 Journey. He has also filmed a yet-to-be aired Chinese TV drama Legend Of The Condor Heroes.
