An 11-year-old Malaysian girl received a standing ovation this week at a televised singing contest in China, for her strong vocals and command of Mandarin.
Netizens from Malaysia are hailing her as the next Shila Amzah, after the singer who made it in the Chinese market after winning the 2012 Chinese reality singing talent show Asian Wave.
The Star reported on July 7 that the 11-year-old girl is Adinda, from Taiping, Perak. She took part in the fourth season of kids reality TV programme Let's Sing Kids, which aired on July 2 and is produced by the Hunan Broadcasting System.
A YouTube recording of Adinda's performance of Next Stop In The Future by singer Lin Yu-chun has been trending on social media. Adinda receives a standing ovation from the crowd mid-way through the song, while the judges are clearly impressed as well.
The Star reported that Adinda's initial performance was followed by Let It Go from Disney's animated feature Frozen. She sang it as a duet together with singer Gary Chaw, who is a judge on the show.\
