It is rare for the first edition of novels to appreciate in value on collector markets but sometimes, it does happen. Luckily for JK Rowling, certain copies of her novel series, Harry Potter, have done just that. According to Mashable, certain first releases of the novels are now worth US$50,000. These first releases are unique. For example, first printings of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone list the author as 'Joanne Rowling' instead of JK.
