Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton takes New York with classy maternity looks

Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate, five months pregnant, are getting a royal welcome in New York City on their three-day trip to the East Coast.

And all eyes are on the Duchess of Cambridge's sartorial choices for the Big Apple.

Look, it's Elsa from Frozen! That was what the little tikes at the Northside Center for Child Development in Harlem thought when she descended upon them.

She wore a chic black coat with contrasting tabs from Goat Fashion, one with a longer, more demure length than the version commercially available. She was in Episode Angel heels and accessorised with a Mulberry Baywater clutch and Cornelia James Imogen gloves, all in the same dark colour scheme.

She ups her game by donning a glamorous grey coat with metallic highlights by American designer Tory Burch to catch court-side NBA action between the Brooklyn Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

She brightens up a freezing rainy day, wearing a double-breasted cerise wool silk coat from Mulberry to visit the the National September 11 Memorial and Museum, which honours the victims of the 2001 terrorist strikes on the World Trade Center. At a reception to celebrate creative British talent at NeueHouse, the duchess removes her Mulberry coat to reveal a black turtleneck dress by Seraphine, elegantly styled with a gold necklace and drop earrings.

She ends her final official event in New York on a high note in a floor-length, midnight blue dress by Jenny Packham teamed with diamond and emerald earrings. The gala dinner at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is to honour the the University of St Andrews in Scotland where she and Prince William fell in love. It was the third time thrifty Kate was wearing the dress.
