Rather than throw a party like she usually did, professional matchmaker Glenda Quek, 38, celebrated her birthday last year with a worthy cause.

Through online platform Gift-It-Forward (www.gift-it-forward.com), she created an invitation page which served as a personal gift fund that her friends could donate to.
