Born in an orphanage in Yunnan, Ari was adopted by lawyer Charlie, against the advice of Charlie's mother Gran, a first-generation Chinese immigrant to America. Now all three must cope with Ari's increasingly disturbing actions after a visit to the orphanage she came from.
