MEXICO CITY (AFP) - Mexico bid farewell on Monday, April 21, 2014, to its adopted son, Colombian novelist Gabriel Garcia Marquez, in a national tribute filled with roses and the late Nobel winner's favourite music.
Dozens of people lined up outside the capital's domed Fine Arts Palace - where Mexico pays tribute to its late artistic icons - for a memorial ceremony.
Garcia Marquez died in his Mexico City house on Thursday at the age of 87.
"I still can't believe it, which is why I'm here. Maybe this way I can better accept it," said Felisa Tole, a Colombian woman who has lived in Mexico for eight years.
