Artworks at light festival belong to artists

We thank Mr Sylvester Toh for his interest in i Light Marina Bay (Get More Mileage Out Of i Light Festival, Life, March 12).

The Marina Bay waterfront promenade is planned as a public space for everybody to experience and enjoy. It has a calendar of activities to meet the diverse needs and interests of visitors. i Light Marina Bay is one such activity.

Its timing and duration are set with this in mind, along with other considerations such as to coincide with the school holiday week and to avoid clashing with major light festivals in the region.

Many of the artworks are designed and built as temporary installations. They belong to the artists who will decide what to do with the artworks after the festival.

The artworks have a life beyond i Light Marina Bay. Artists and artworks from past editions have travelled to other festivals, such as Vivid Sydney and the Singapore Night Festival.
