Singapore theatre company Wild Rice takes its production of Hotel - starring (from left) Brendon Fernandez, Ben Cutler, Siti Khalijah Zainal, Lina Yu, Yap Yi Kai, Moo Siew Keh, Dwayne Lau, Pam Oei and Ghafir Akbar - to the OzAsia Festival in Adelaide. The event, from Sept 21 to Oct 8, is Australia's leading international arts festival. Hotel, which was first performed in Singapore in 2015, reveals the Republic's turbulent history, rapid social and political evolution and diverse culture through the eyes of the play's characters. It is directed by Glen Goei and Ivan Heng, and written by Alfian Sa'at and Marcia Vanderstraaten. Heng says: "Despite its grandeur and epic scale, Hotel is also an intimate play that explores the human story of our region. We trust that audiences - whether Australian, Singaporean or citizens of the world - will be enriched by the shared experience of pausing to reflect on who we are and how we came to be." Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu attended the opening night of the production in Adelaide.
