Jubilant Indonesian artist Gatot Indrajati after winning the 35th United Overseas Bank Painting of the Year (Indonesia) Award last night.

He is also the third Indonesian in a row to win the UOB South-east Asian Painting of the Year Award, the first time artists from one country have done so.

The 36-year-old won the judges' hearts with his acrylic and wood relief Right Or Wrong My Home (0.7m by 1.62m), inspired by the spirit that his countrymen showed in the aftermath of the Jakarta bombings in January. "I am happy and proud to have made history for Indonesia," he said.
