Limelight 2016: River Valley High School Choirs

The concert, led by renowned conductor Jennifer Tham, will showcase the River Valley High School Choirs' musicality and versatility with a variety of songs centred on the theme of flowers. Works by Morten Lauridsen, Vincent Persichetti and Steve Dobrogosz will be featured.

Strings Fantasy

International violin virtuoso Lu Siqing will collaborate with renowned cellist Qin Li-Wei to perform masterpieces under the baton of Singapore Chinese Orchestra music director Yeh Tsung. The concert will feature three works by acclaimed Chinese composer Zhao Jiping. The orchestra will also perform the symphonic poem, The Celestial Web, by Singapore artist Tan Swie Hian and music by home-grown composer Law Wai Lun.

Becoming 2016

Shrimps In Space

This hilarious and insightful play explores the uplifting nature of true friendships. Being born a skinny, scrawny shrimp of a guy is no fun indeed. You never know if you are going to survive the rugby field of oversized players whom you had been forced to take on or the battlefield of teenage dating. For Huat Bee (nicknamed Hay Bee), life was miserable until he met his best friend Hin Kong (nicknamed King Kong), who is everything he is not.

The title 4S represents the four mini stories that revolve around Malay legends and folktales. The "S" stands for Santau (art of poisoning one's enemies through the use of the wind and djinns); Saka (unholy beings kept by a person to gain wealth and strength); Susuk (practice of inserting charmed needles into one's face to remain beautiful); and Seru (art of summoning beings from the other dimension). Performed primarily in English and Malay.
