Auditions For The Flying Dutchman

For the first time, a fully staged Richard Wagner opera - The Flying Dutchman - is being produced and presented in Singapore. Auditions for the lead roles and choral singers are open. The selected leads (Dutchman, Senta, Daland, Erik) will sing one performance at Victoria Theatre, perform at an outreach programme and cover for four performances by the international leads who are being cast in Europe. The selected leads for Mary and Steersman will sing five performances at Victoria Theatre. Participants will work with directors Glen Goei and Chong Tze Chien.

Image Correction By Wang Guangyi

Born in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, in 1957, Wang studied art during the Cultural Revolution initiated by Mao Zedong in the 1970s.This solo exhibition showcases Wang's aesthetic expression of the political paradox, in which he illustrates major historical events.

Dichotomy Of An Artist

This exhibition is about an artist finding his way outward by looking inward. Singapore artist Aaron Gan has developed two divergent directions to his watercolour practice: a further exploration of Chinese painting, this time in colour with unique, stylised calligraphy; and a dense agglomeration of monochromatic squares referencing the starry night sky. The latter series won him a Gold Award at the UOB Painting of the Year Competition last year.

The Chronicles Of One And Zero: Kancil By Zeugma

This production, written by BIG (Zulfadli Rashid) and directed by Rizman Putra, is a fantastical pastiche of what we perceive to be our culture and heritage set in today's digital and virtual world. It seeks to unravel stories from the Malay fable Hikayat Sang Kancil (The Chronicles Of Sang Kancil), retold and deconstructed through syair and puisi (forms of traditional Malay poetry), body projection mapping and animated sequences. White Rabbit Red Rabbit By Nassim Soleimanpour

Nassim dissects the experience of a whole generation in this ground-breaking play from Iran. Disallowed a passport due to his refusal to do military service, he turns his isolation to his advantage with a play that requires no director, no set and a different actor for every performance. The cast includes veteran stage and television actors Neo Swee Lin and Sani Hussin, YouTube star and actress Munah Bagharib, Vasantham actress and singer Udaya Soundari and Mediacorp Love 97.2FM DJ Dennis Chew. This monodrama is staged in four languages and is part of the M1 Singapore Fringe Festival 2016.
