SSO President's Young Performers Concert 2016
The Singapore Symphony Orchestra is calling for Singaporean musicians for next year's concert. Auditions will be held for shortlisted conductors and musicians performing on Western classical instruments. Instrumentalists should be aged below 25 and conductors below 35 as of July 1. SSO Gala: Rachmaninov Concerto No. 3
Conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy returns with an all-Rachmaninov programme featuring Russian pianist Alexei Volodin in the grand Third Piano Concerto, which gained popularity after it was used in the soundtrack of the movie Shine. The concert opens with Vocalise and closes with Rachmaninov's final work, the Symphonic Dances, which includes a solo for alto saxophone.

Since its debut at the Singapore Arts Festival in 1988, the musical has had multiple restagings. Set in mid-1960s Singapore, it traces the adventures of a young girl who enters a seedy cabaret hoping to find her long-lost father. This revival, which features Michael Chiang's revised script from 2008, will be directed by Dick Lee, who wrote the music and lyrics.
