COPPELIA

Coppelia is a light-hearted, whimsical ballet that involves a love story between a life-sized mechanical doll, created by mysterious inventor Dr Coppelius, and a village youth.

The two-hour ballet kicks off the season for Singapore Dance Theatre.

THE BROWN DABBLE

Illustrator Muhammad Izdi's first solo visual arts show centres on the strangely amusing figure of a mysterious bogeyman. Comprising animation, sculpture and prints, the exhibition at Chan + Hori Contemporary art gallery also features emblems of power, savagery and sexual energy, such as a tiger (above) and a severed pig's head.

CONSTELLATIONS

String theory meets love story in Constellations, a play written by award-winning British playwright Nick Payne. Staged by the Singapore Repertory Theatre, the two-hander stars London-based actors Stephanie Street and Edward Harrison (both above) as star-crossed lovers Marianne, a theoretical physicist, and Roland, a beekeeper.

This monthly event, organised by visual-textual collective spacer.gif, is a literary playground for artists dabbling in spoken word experiments, some of which incorporate music, photography and multimedia.

Each participant has a five- to seven-minute slot to test out original material, followed by an open jam at the end. For those over 18 only.
