SIDES BY FRONTIER DANCELAND

Singapore dance company Frontier Danceland presents Sides, its annual mid-year production, with works by three choreographers - Singaporean Lee Mun Wai, Israeli Shahar Biniamini and German Sita Ostheimer.

A photo exhibition is also being held at the venue to mark the company's 25th anniversary this year.

DRUMS

Two Asian directors - Singapore's Chong Tze Chien and Japan's Shigeki Nakano (above) - reinterpret The Damask Drum, a classic Japanese noh play written by Yukio Mishima.

Their takes on the play will be staged one after the other as part of The Esplanade's Super Japan - Japanese Festival of Arts 2016, which runs till May 22.

COFFEE & CONVERSATIONS WITH ARTIST ALFREDO JAAR

Multidisciplinary Chilean artist, architect and film-maker Alfredo Jaar, who tackles socio-political issues such as social inequality and environmental degradation in his oeuvre, will share the concepts behind his recent works at a talk at the STPI, where he is the artist-in-residence this month.

MIND YOUR (INTER)CULTURE

Arts group The Select Centre, which promotes intercultural conversation and understanding, organises the monthly Mind Your (Inter)Culture book club, hosted by civil society activist Constance Singam.
