Time to change tactics to boost fertility rate

Despite all the goodies for parents, such as more childcare leave, maternity leave, paternity leave and shared parental leave, Singapore's total fertility rate is still below 1.4, and the number of citizen births is still below 35,000 each year.

It is high time that government concepts change.

The Government should gather feedback from parents below the age of 35 and have two or more children to find out why they wanted more children and how they overcame challenges to have them.

I also hope the Government can look into the income tax relief as well as the grant for childcare for stay-at-home mothers.

Stay-at-home mothers also contribute to Singapore's development. I hope the Government can do more for them.
