The Land Transport Authority has been too bureaucratic and myopic in imposing a tax surcharge on an electric car ("Tesla slapped with $15k tax surcharge"; March 5).
Singapore is a good test bed for electric-car research and development, which has long-term global "green" implications and can possibly create new Singapore-based jobs for the green economy.
This is a good opportunity lost.
The message given is that the Singapore Government does not place the green economy high on its agenda.
This is not a good sign to young Singaporeans, who will be the future catalysts of this global movement.
