Stray dog control ops at Bukit Brown stepped up

We are sorry to learn about Mr Koen Georges Soenens' unpleasant encounter with stray dogs at Bukit Brown Cemetery ("Attacked by stray dogs at Bukit Brown"; Forum Online, July 4).

In response to public feedback on aggressive stray dogs in the area, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) has been actively conducting stray dog control operations at Bukit Brown to safeguard public safety.

Impounded strays will be assessed on their suitability for rehoming. The AVA will work with animal welfare groups to rehome strays assessed to be suitable.

While we step up our efforts, we advise members of the public who encounter stray dogs to stay calm, not stare at them and walk slowly away without making any sudden movements.
