Statements should show total amount of insurance premiums paid

I bought an insurance product several years ago from Aviva for my daughter.

We were required to pay $323.85 per month in premiums for 15 years.

Each statement sent to us shows only the premiums received during the statement period.

When we asked the company to include the accumulated amount received so far, it told us that the Monetary Authority of Singapore required it to indicate only the premiums paid during the statement period.

This should not be the case, as the statements would be the evidence of the amount that we have paid, in case of any dispute.
