Rude behaviour a thing of the past

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is indeed in a position to say that Singaporeans are more gracious today (S'pore has come a long way in being gracious: PM; May 20).

He had seen what the norm was in the 1970s, when uncouth diners in unkempt coffee shops spouted vulgarities and even spat a few times to reinforce their condemnation.

Today, such acts are practically unseen.

We have come a long way, not only in our standard of living, but in our behaviour too.
