Raise more awareness about lightning dangers

I was jogging around the National Stadium area in the early morning of Sept 10.

There was an event taking place and there were many marshals, many of whom were children, stationed at various locations around the riverside, spreading all the way to the Marina Barrage.

At around 8am, the weather suddenly turned stormy, with dark clouds coming from the seafront; lightning alert sirens were also heard near the East Coast area.

However, the marshals were unaware of the impending danger of lightning strikes and many were standing in open areas.

I hope that more can be done to educate event organisers, joggers, park users and others about the dos and don'ts during a storm.
