Overhead bridges still better

Unlike pedestrian overhead bridges, street level crossings are not safe to use ("Rethink pedestrian bridges in Singapore's car-lite push" by Mr Seow Joo Heng; Aug 12).

Instances of motorists running red lights are a common occurrence.

Most importantly, covered pedestrian overhead bridges, though costly, protect users from rain and shine.

With lifts at pedestrian overhead bridges, elderly people with weak legs, pregnant woman and wheelchair users will not find it challenging to use these facilities.
