I regularly take bus service 43 and know the exact fare for my journey.
On June 1, however, I noticed that more was deducted from my ez-link card than usual. My wife, who was with me, was also charged this higher amount.
I went to the Paya Lebar MRT station control to check, and the officers there confirmed that I had been overcharged. However, as they were not authorised to give me a refund, they told me to contact SBS Transit.
So, I wrote to SBS Transit. I received one reply where it said it would investigate, but I have heard nothing since.
Fare deduction through the ez-link card would have been computerised, so the charges should not change. And yet, such instances of overcharging seem to happen quite often.
This is of concern, especially as a lot of passengers may not notice it happening.
I urge the Land Transport Authority and SBS Transit to look into this matter seriously.
