I agree with Mr Elvis Chua Hock Thiam that all athletes who win medals in the 8th Asean Para Games should get cash awards ("All medallists should get cash awards"; Dec 12).

It is a formidable task to participate in the challenging and tough games. The athletes with disabilities have worked hard to prepare for the games.

They have displayed patience, determination, persistence and resilience to overcome the odds.

It is only fair for all the medallists to get cash awards, and not just those who win gold medals.
