More anti-smoking enforcement action must be taken

There have been many suggestions on how to deal with the smoking problem among Singapore's youth.

Many have suggested education and highlighting the health issues surrounding smoking.

Such measures are already plentiful in our current system.

The weak link is in the policing and enforcement process.

I still see many youth, especially students, smoking near bus stops outside their schools while in their school uniforms.

If National Environment Agency officers are seen to be proactively taking the necessary action against these young people, it may help to drive the message across more effectively.
