Singaporeans must be no less than stunned by the stoicism and bravery displayed by Mr Jason Chee.

His recent gold medal win at the Asean Para Games was a proud crowning glory not only for himself and Singapore but also for the world at large, particularly the disabled community.

Let us stop for a moment and think of what he has lost - both his legs, his left arm and three fingers on his right hand.

As though that was not enough, he also recently lost his right eye.

His greatest inspiration must have been someone very much like him - author and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic.

When Mr Vujicic visited Singapore in 2013, Mr Chee was at his show and said: "I want to be like him."

Indeed, he has become like him.
