Live music at Thaipusam: Ensure privilege restored isn't abused

The enormous effort put in by the Hindu Endowments Board, Sri Thendayuthapani Temple, Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple and other authorities to relax the restriction on the playing of music by devotees during the Thaipusam march is highly commendable ("Green light for live music at Thaipusam"; Dec 3).

Certainly, all will go well if the police can add additional manpower during the procession next year, to ensure that the privilege restored is not abused by some bad elements.
