Lack of parking spaces could trigger more disputes

By around 10am each day, the carparks at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital and Singapore General Hospital are invariably full.

One would have to wait patiently for someone to vacate a space. At times, more than one vehicle will be waiting for a space to be vacated and altercations have been known to occur. Some disputes turn so ugly that the police have to be called.

There is also a scarcity of parking spaces at heartland open-air carparks where there is a market or a food centre.

The carparks at Blocks 409, 457 and 628 in Ang Mo Kio during the weekends are cases in point, where many are waiting for someone to vacate a space before they are able to park.

The scarcity of parking spaces is a grave matter and things will only get uglier if there are no spaces added.
