About a week ago, I was pleasantly surprised that my neighbourhood park - the Bishan East Community Park - was lit up at night with more lighting and brighter lights.

There is suddenly a buzz in the park with more joggers and strollers enjoying their respective forms of exercise in the evenings.

It makes sense to brighten our parks at night for sporting activities, as it is cooler and quieter. A brighter park is also safer, especially for women and senior citizens.

I have stepped up on my walking in the evenings, too.

My appreciation goes to Bishan Town Council for brightening up the park. Hopefully, other town councils can follow suit.
