Digital cameras have been put up to catch motorists who run the red lights at traffic-light crossings.
While this measure helps the Land Transport Authority (LTA) deter dangerous driving, it does not do enough to help motorists themselves in the course of driving.
To do that, the LTA should install countdown timers that can help motorists to estimate more accurately when the red light will come on.
Keeping cost in mind, this feature can be installed at selected crossings where pedestrian traffic is high or at accident-prone crossings.
This could be a vital life-saving, accident-prevention device.
