Illegally modified vehicles still common

The statistics may show that the number of illegally-modified vehicles in Singapore has gone down. ("Fewer caught with illegally modified vehicles"; Nov 27). Strangely, vehicles with illegal modifications are still quite a common sight.

Another complaint is - noisy motorcycles on the roads. From anecdotal observations, the rule on excessively noisy motorcycles does not seem to apply to foreign-registered motorcycles.

Are these motorcycles exempt from Singapore's noise-emission limit?

If slightly more than 1,000 are being booked for illegal modifications each month, is the Land Transport Authority able to say if these vehicles pass the Singapore inspection standards?
