Hume Ave zebra crossing a danger zone for pedestrians

I have been running around my estate for years and have had my fair share of near accidents at the zebra crossing turning into Hume Avenue.

The zebra crossing is apparent to cars only when they turn into Hume Avenue, and cars do not slow down to check for pedestrians.

There have been many times when, halfway on the crossing, I would have been knocked down by speeding cars had I not stepped back onto the pavement.

Is there any way to resolve this issue? Can the authorities install a camera around the zebra crossing to deter speeding cars or catch them if they cause accidents?
