Heavy pruning of trees in Seletar a concern

There is much concern in my neighbourhood - Seletar Hills Estate - over the extensive pruning and cutting of old trees in the area.

The trees along Yio Chu Kang Road are more than 40 years old, with lush green canopies. But they are being heavily pruned for some unknown reason.

I worry that these trees will eventually be felled. Two have already been removed.

The National Parks Board's objective is the greening of Singapore, so it is surprising that these huge trees are being pruned bare.

Seletar is fast losing its legacy of green landscape and pastoral charm, as more of such acts of relentless pruning and removal of trees goes on.

A heavy vehicle park has now taken a big slice of the grassy area and forested land, further eroding its green spaces.
