Great experience at SEA Games match

MY SON and I went to watch the SEA Games football gold medal match; it was the first mass sports event we attended at our new National Stadium.

We had a very pleasant experience.

- The stadium and its surrounding walkways were very well designed and constructed. Although the event was attended by more than 30,000 people, with many foreign visitors, it was a breeze getting into the stadium from public transport facilities.

There weren't the expected long queues, even though there were ticket and security checks before the match. The walkways around the stadium are broad, which made usage by a large crowd convenient and safe. The beautiful sight of Singapore city at night was also visible from around the stadium.

- The workers and volunteers for the event were well trained, knowledgeable and friendly, and they were all strategically positioned. There were workers and volunteers inside the MRT stations, just outside the stations, along the way between the stations and the stadium, and inside the stadium, to guide visitors.

There were also volunteers directing the visitors not to take pictures on the staircase outside the stadium, for safety reasons.

Many of the workers and volunteers even greeted us "goodnight" and "have a nice evening" after the match.

While the SEA Games organising committee has said there are lessons to be learnt from the confusion at the closing ceremony, the members have done far more positive things to make the SEA Games a huge success for Singapore, and have done us proud.
